PFN: Should we bother with the Bicycle Film Festival?

So, I was thinking of submitting a couple of Pinch Flat movies to the 2008 Bicycle Film Festival.

This will involve a tremendous amount of screwing around with technologies I don't understand. So to make my life easier, perhaps you can help me select just one or two of your favorites from last year's schedule.

To view them again, just hit the "5 Minute Machine" link below, which should spit back the appropriate results.

And remember: The videos may suck, but you can't argue with the soundtrack!

Also, FYI: I'm still going to load all of these movies onto a single DVD and make it available to those of you who have graciously asked for it. I think. (See that part about technologies I don't understand.)

Get your clock cleaned!

For some reason this video seems to perfectly resonate with me on an otherwise busy morning.

A moment of zen-like contemplation to consider a new way to use my favorite tool in the toolbox.

Five Minute Machine: Minnesota State CX Champs '07

The video is done!

video

And to reiterate the credits: A special thanks to Fred Feirn (interviews, "boom" mike, driving), Geno Oberpriller (bike cam, ecouragement), Hurl Everstone (interviews, moral support, close physical contact), Bill O'Reilly (the Word), and a cast of dozens.

There is some afterparty footage that I'll throw together over the holiday.

If you want a full-quality movie on DVD disk, you can drop me an email here and we'll work something out. If there's enough interest, I may put the whole series on a disk -- that would be Hudson CX, Powderhorn CX, Northfield CX, and States (mostly the A races).

Five Minute Machine: Track or Treat 2007

OK, I've been delaying posting this, cuz it just isn't up to the (admittedly pretty shitty) standards around here. But then I thought a few folks might get a chuckle out of it, from the Halloween alleycat in downtown Minneapolis

Aside from exposure issues, the real problem here is that too many intoxicants were involved. I wound up with half the footage I expected, because I confused the stop button with the record button. At least I kept the rubber side down. Until about 2 AM.

Still, it's a great soundtrack, which y'all have grown to love and expect from the Five Minute Machine, so here you go.

Five Minute Machine: Northfield CX

Trying to get ahead with things here, I pushed the Northfield CX video through. (Perhaps it helped that I re-separated my shoulder yesterday on the dirt bike, and couldn't race today.)

Five Minute Machine: Homie Fall Fest 2007, the full-length feature!

Sorry for the delay, folks. We're worthless and weak. But we do have awesome taste in music.

Five Minute Machine: Powderhorn CX

These things aren't really "race reports" so much as 'cross porn... and this one is pretty sedate, as far as that goes. But it was a nifty course for those who rode it.

For the record, Pinch Flat News cleaned that hill all five times!

Five Minute Machine: Hudson CX

Being the global, multimedia juggernaut that we are, we thought we'd give a shot at video with a Local Intelligence report. We figure a picture is worth a thousand words, and a moving picture is worth just shutting up. This is from the Hudson Riverside CX last weekend at Hudson, Wisconsin.

Also, the beauty of cyclocross is that we can run in the B race, and film the A race. It's a win win! (Well, actually it's more like a lose-win, but you get the idea.)
